Soca Queen Alison Hinds, Patrice Roberts to Nikita: Enjoy, cherish it

Two women in particular, from within the soca arena have not only extended congratulations to Barbados' songstress Nikita on her pregnancy but they have shared some bits of advice from their personal experiences with her as well.

When Nikita who is married to Kevin Herbert shared the news on her Instagram on Monday, April 29, 2019, the congratulations and well wishes started pouring in from locals and persons beyond Barbados' shores - family, friends, supporters and fans.

Amongst those showering Nikita with congrats were Bajan Soca Queen Alison Hinds who has a teenage daughter Saharan and Trinidadian Soca Star Patrice Roberts who has a two-year-old daughter named Lily.

Loop reached out to the two mothers who also balance entertainment, marketing, travelling to perform or promote and motherhood for any helpful tips for Nikita.

Patrice said:

"I am extremely happy for her. Motherhood is beautiful and a bit challenging at times. However, once she has the right support system she will be fine. There aee tons of things I learnt after having my daughter that no one told me about or prepeared me for.

"Be patient on difficult days and do not be ashamed to ask for assistance."

But most of all, "Enjoy every moment, they grow up so quickly."

Meanwhile, laughing, Queen of Soca Alison warned, "My first piece of advice is, you will never be as tired as you will be those first three months."

Then on a more serious note, she continued, "No one warned me that it would be that demanding. So happily accept any help that you get from hubby, friends and family.

"Secondly, enjoy that time when they're babies because in no time at all, they will be walking, talking and growing up in front of your eyes. So cherish each stage at it comes."

Also extending congratulations from within the music fraternity were Shanta Prince, Impossible singer - Shontelle, Biggie Irie, and others. Her co-host on Slam 101.1 fm Salt jokingly said, "tell myself you did look different last week", and spoken word artist Dj Simmons commented, "This child gonna be so loved. The village is ready."

In an appreciation post, Nikita posted a photo of herself and her husband with the caption:

'Thank you guys for all the love and positivity you took time to share, we’re both praying for a safe journey!!! Exciting times ahead!!'
