Soca heavyweight, Machel Montano put to rest, rumors that have circulated for many years, regarding his sexual preference. The “TocoLoco” singer who recently teamed up with international RnB singer Ashanti on a brand new soca track, appeared on Slam 100.5FM with hosts Jason Williams and Blaze. “I’m not gay,” Montano asserted as he addressed the topic of homosexuality and personal choice, particularly among members of the LBGTQ community.
Machel’s outburst may have come as quite a surprise to many since he has never before addressed the once well proliferated rumor. During the morning radio interview, the entertainer chastised the media for its misuse of its platforms, lamenting that many in positions to effectively promote the positive attributes of artistes and others, have instead added fuel to fire, promoting negative jeers and making laughing stocks of those who arduously promote T&T.
