Jus' Buss: Machel Montano drops a refix, MX Prime says jam at home

With all the soca being released it feels like there is a Trinidad Carnival looming but alas there isn’t and the content of the songs reflects that. From Machel Montano to MX Prime, soca is finding a way to make us reminisce and long for the day when we can enjoy a fete again. For now, however, you just need to visit your favourite streaming platform to get your soca fix.

Long Time Refix by Machel Montano

In this refix to his 2020 release Long Time, soca king Machel Montano taps Vincentian producer Parry Jack to help him tug at our heart strings as he remade the words to sing about his yearning for a fete. The accompanying video shows the Monk and his wife enjoying a simple life in Toco where he lives while reminiscing about feting.

SunKissed Shores presented by Private Ryan

In this EP, DJ private Ryan presents a sexy midtempo soca fusion project that conjures up feelings of being on a lonely remote beach on the Caribbean during the summer. This is a collection of distinctly different tracks from artistes from Antigua, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Virgin Islands. The EP features Adam O, Ricardo Drue featuring Drastic and Lilly, Terri Lyons and Preedy.

Trinbagonian musician Kalpee is kickstarting the New Year with his uplifting, acoustic version of his well-received Feel Good Playlist Vol.1 EP. Inspired by his Caribbean roots, the project fuses reggae and calypso into a contemporary R&B, pop sound. Kalpee has also released the video for "Climb", his collaboration with Freetown Collective.

This five-track project features Shal Marshall and Patrice Roberts, Zoelah and Problem Child, kells and Sekon Sta, Farmer Nappy, King Bubba and Problem Child. All songs were written by Problem Child.
