Beenie Man headlines ‘Sound Invasion’

Reggae and dancehall superstar Beenie Man will headline tonight’s Pirates Week street dance downtown on Harbour Drive.

The Grammy award-winner is part of this weekend’s Waterfront Sound Invasion, a Caribbean showcase featuring artists from the local and international stage.

Hailed for such hits as “Who Am I,” “Girls Dem Sugar,” and the duet with Janet Jackson “Feel It Boy,” Beenie Man will perform with his full band.

To complement this high energy performance, the show will include soca star Bunji Garlin, known for such bangers as “Differentology (Ready Fi Di Road),” “Truck on D Road,” “Carnival Tabanca” and “Big Bad Soca.”

The line-up also includes Selecta Renegade, Beneil Miller and the Fyah Squad Band, Andrea Rivera, DJ Craig and Erica Assai, along with appearances by soca sensations Kerwin Du Bois and Nailah Blackman.

Du Bois and Blackman headline Saturday’s street dance, with Cayman artists DJ Rion Kirk, DJ Nigel, DJ Yoyo, DJ Mat Banx and Rico Rolando and Band also hitting the stage.

Kerwin Du Bois is to bring high-energy soca to Harbour Drive on Saturday night.

Gates open at 7 p.m. for Friday’s showcase, with tickets available from eventpro.ky. Saturday’s street dance starts at 8:30 p.m., and admission is free.

For Friday’s street dance, organizers Monster Media are offering free bus service, Ride Safe, for ticket holders to and from the districts, departing from the George Town Bus Depot.
