Prime Minister Mia Mottley has made a big promise to the children of the nation.
Known for her Crop Over event, the country's leader told her youngest citizens that she has a big gift for them when the COVID-19 pandemic is over.
Recognising that the curfew and the call for social distancing are not only taking a toll on adults and seniors, but also on the minors, she told the children that they can look forward to after COVID-19.
"To the children, I'm sorry this is going to be a year for you not to remember because I know you want to be outside flying kites and yuh want to be eating Easter eggs, but listen to your mother, listen to yuh father, listen to yuh grandparents and I promise you when it is all over I am going to give you de biggest Easter party Barbados has ever seen.
"So just listen to them for now for me."
South Africa had Madiba - Nelson Mandela, and the children in Barbados have their 'Aunty Mia' - Mia Amor Mottley, with some islands additionally adopting her too and calling her 'Tanty'.
Nelson Mandela was Madiba meaning 'father' to South Africans and the world over eventually got in on this too, now Barbados' leader has once more demonstrated why to many young constituents and even millennials, she is being seen as and called 'Aunty Mia'.
