Prospects are positive for Soca Artist Brandon Anthony

Johnny Prospects is aiming to take soca music to the next level with his Carnival 2018 release Hiya.

The Brooklyn-based performer, real name Brandon Anthony, released the Clyde “Kool” Headley-produced track to rave reviews across the Diaspora earlier this week. Now he’s hoping to bring his natural enthusiasm and love for music back to the land of his parents, Trinidad and Tobago.

“I grew up in Brooklyn in a Trinidadian household so Caribbean culture was always a major part of our lives. Hearing the music of 3Suns, Machel Montano and Denise Belfon really awoke something inside of me. I felt like I too have to make a contribution to the music of my land,” Propects says of his Caribbean roots.

For the past four years the young artiste has been honing his talent in and around music. In 2013 he released his debut EP Sharks and Bananas which featured the Lava Lamp Riddim. This year proved to be a pivotal transition for the US regiment serviceman as he toured the carnival circuit and made important musical connections.

Saying that he feels both excited and anxious to share this track with not only T&T, but the Caribbean as a whole, Prospects said: “Excited because the vision is to bring back that soca bounce to our music and anxious, well we got to wait and see how you guys respond to us.

“The song is designed to make masqueraders feel unstoppable on the road for Carnival. My mission is to provide listeners with music that brings them to their feet. And not just to only influence movements in your body, but to also encourage you to enjoy life a little more.”
