Your only destination to all things CARNIVAL
Notting Hill campaign group Reclaim Our Carnival (ROC) will be holding an afternoon of discussions about the event’s future on Sunday 14 January.
This will not be a large public meeting of the kind held last year; instead, there will be 10 advisory panels, each with six participants. Each panel will focus its discussions on a specific theme. Panel members will then present their conclusions to the rest of the participants for further debate and discussion.
It is hoped that this ‘brainstorming’ approach will lead to constructive solutions to some of the difficulties that have been plaguing the half-century-old festival in recent years.
Among the subjects the panels will be discussing include community engagement, Carnival education, stewarding and policing arrangements, route management and overcrowding, financing, improving mas presentation, Jouvert and Panorama, stimulating research, and creating a media strategy for Notting Hill Carnival.
The event will take place from 1pm until 5pm on Sunday 14 January at Paddington Arts Centre, 32 Woodfield Road, London W9 2BE
