The masquerader who was discovered dead this morning in the Queen's Park Savannah has been identified as a Japanese pannist.
Police sources say the woman, Asami Nagakiya, was identified by the Japanese Embassy.
She is believed to be a regular visitor to Carnival and played with Silver Stars Orchestra with a group of other Japanese nationals.
Around 9.30 this morning two men saw the body of the woman lying under a tree in the Savannah opposite to Queen's Royal College. It was clad in a yellow costume.
The police were notified.
One man who said he first discovered the body said the woman's arm bore a slash and her body was bruised.
Investigations are continuing.
