Your only destination to all things CARNIVAL
I am new to this page, so let me begin with "Hello!"
I was looking at the website for Barclay Center, getting some information on this year's Labor Day concert when I saw a link to this page. I clicked on it and HERE I AM!
What a wonderful page this is!
As I make plans to be in NYC for Labor Day weekend, attending not only the concert at Barclay Center but also the Brooklyn West Indian Labor Day Carnival, I am loving all the people I am meeting along the way! This will be my first year at BOTH so I am truly excited! (Wish there was a stronger word than "excited" to describe the feeling but I guess that will have to do).
As the title says, I am in the pre-production stages of making my first documentary film about the Caribbean cultures (three in particular- Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica and Haiti) and I believe this website will provide many resources and helpful tips on where to go so I can get the most authentic experiences with the Caribbean cultures (without having to visit the Caribbean...at least right now :)
I am open to hear any suggestions on music to listen to (I am very familiar with reggae but soca...not so much, so that one I will need help with). If anyone is familiar with the Labor Day parade in NYC and the concert, please share some tips!
In the mean time, thanks for letting me join this site and I look forward to chatting with you ALL! :)
