Your only destination to all things CARNIVAL
New York-based soca starlet Cali Gray will represent soca music and T&T at the American Coast2Coast Live artiste showcase this month.
Cali, real name Calika Grayson, is the only soca act to be selected for the 16-act showcase, carded for October 17 at the Hall of MP, Brooklyn, New York. The event will feature the best young hip hop, R&B and pop music talent in the Tri-State area.
“It’s a massive opportunity to be selected for Coast2Coast Live because you immediately get an audience with the people you want most to hear your music. Top record label executives, producers, managers and agents all scout new talent at the event,” Cali Gray said of her selection.
The New York leg of Coast2Coast Live will be judged by multi-platinum producer Steve “The Mix King” Sola (producer for Notorious BIG, Diddy, Lil Wayne, Nas etc) and Music Mystro (producer for Mary J Blige, LL Cool J, Fat Joe, Barrington Levy, among others).
The Brooklyn-based singer, the only female in the line-up, plans to perform her hit soca single Wicked off the Cali Riddim at the showcase. The Selectah Kern (Keron Cadette) and Mr Spine (Shawn “ZIgboi” Stewart) produced track has been on rotation in New York and across the region.
“I don’t feel any pressure going on to that stage. I know the gem we have in soca music, we all know, now it’s all about continuing to grab every opportunity presented to share it with the world,” a confident Cali Gray added.
