Grenada’s new National Queen for Spicemas 2016 is Samantha Francis from the St. George Parish.
Francis wooed the judges with her interview, talent, costume, swimwear, eveningwear and final question.
Her costume she portrayed was “Wonders of the Ocean” which captivated the judges and audience at the Grenada National Stadium on Thursday night.
Francis was also a crowd favourite as many persons took to social media to throw their support for her.
In second place was Kerryne James of St. John Parish who portrayed “Mama Jelly-the Jelly Fish Queen.”
And third place went to Esyln Blair of Carriacou &Petite Martinique who portrayed “The beauty of the Coral”.
Spicemas 2016 which will be celebrated on Monday and Tuesday, was off to a bumper start already as several parties are being held across the country.
The first event was Pree Day which was held on Wednesday night at the National Stadium and was hosted by one of Grenada’s favourite Soca artiste and Cultural Ambassador Wilt “Tallpree” Cambridge.
Several artistes performed from the country along with soca artistes from Trinidad such as Farmer Nappy, Third Bass, Benjai and Blaxx along with the Roy Cape All Stars.
The parties continued throughout the weekend which led into the famous Jab Jab J’ouvert.
Flights were booked throughout the week as many regional and international tourists ensured they got on a flight to enjoy what Spicemas 2016 had to offer.
